If you don't believe in God then you don't believe in a higher authority than government. So you don't agree that everyone has inalienable rights. So you just gave away all your rights to government to decide what rights, if any, they will let you have. That's the result of atheism.

Anyone who denies that God exists gets this as email. I first heard this read by Dr Zev Zelenko just weeks before his passing. This will never be forgotten.

Is there life after birth? (author unknown)

In a mother’s womb were two babies. One asked the other:

“Do you believe in life after delivery?” The other replied, “Why, of course. There has to be something after delivery. Maybe we are here to prepare ourselves for what we will be later.”

“Nonsense,” said the first. “There is no life after delivery. What kind of life would that be?”

The second said, “I don’t know, but there will be more light than here. Maybe we will walk with our legs and eat from our mouths. Maybe we will have other senses that we can’t understand now.”

The first replied, “That is absurd. Walking is impossible. And eating with our mouths? Ridiculous! The umbilical cord supplies nutrition and everything we need. But the umbilical cord is so short. Life after delivery is to be logically excluded.”

The second insisted, “Well I think there is something and maybe it’s different than it is here. Maybe we won’t need this physical cord anymore.”

The first replied, “Nonsense. And moreover if there is life, then why has no one ever come back from there? Delivery is the end of life, and in the after-delivery there is nothing but darkness and silence and oblivion. It takes us nowhere.”

“Well, I don’t know,” said the second, “but certainly we will meet Mother and she will take care of us.”

The first replied “Mother? You actually believe in Mother? That’s laughable. If Mother exists, then where is She now?”

The second said, “She is all around us. We are surrounded by her. We are of Her. It is in Her that we live. Without Her this world would not and could not exist.”

Said the first: “Well, I don’t see Her, so it is only logical that She doesn’t exist.”

To which the second replied, “Sometimes, when you’re in silence and you focus and you really listen, you can perceive Her presence. You can hear Her loving voice calling down from above.”

Dear friends, out of the mouths of babes…

Meh. I disagree with Jeff's thesis. I consider myself an atheist. This in no way reduces baseline belief that "certain inalienable rights by God that cannot be taken away by the government." Human rights come from our very existence and exist regardless of faith in God or lack of same. I consider the Democratic Party to be a totalitarian monster & a bitter enemy that must be destroyed. I'm super pleased that those with faith in God belief strongly in human rights and I'm 100% with you. I just don't personally see any need for faith in God to believe in freedom, dignity, and human rights.

I'll be extra observant in future to see whether I notice faith in God to contribute to support for human rights and dignity. Haven't seen it but perhaps that's because I was not looking.

Thanks for the thought-provoking article, Jeff!

P.s. I don't believe in God and I give Government no moral authority at all. Human rights trump government. Government's legitimate role is very limited. It has vastly exceeded it's legitimate role and must therefore be cut down to size. In the USA the Federal gov't should be less than 1% its current size. The only FedGov roles I consider legit are managing radioactive waste (DoE), the postal service, and paying veterans promises made to them. DoE is an abomination that should be cut to 1% its current size and dedicated just to managing radioactive waste.

such chauvinstic breast beating as this piece contains shows an ignorance of the Bible,

i invite you to read the prophets to see what they denounced. and then see if men stil do these things, not just in the USA but everywhere

i wil give the Left creidt for one thing. and one thiong only. As they are mostly atheists , as you say, they do not use the name of God. therefore the blaspheme it less

but conservatives, who think that God is a book end for and and a means to what they really seek, a prosperous and stable country blaspheme Him constantly.

for such never regarded God Almighty as HOLY AND TERRIBLE

I do not have any special contempt for the USA. but sloppy bible scholarship infuriates me. and your boasting justified by the name of God is either poor or non existent bible scholarship

have you even read it?

In all seriousness if you believe your rignts comes from God instead of merely invoking this proposition i would like to see a soundly reasoned biblical defense of this, listing each right - presumably from your Consititution - and demonstrationg the valid link to the corresponding right listed in in scripture.

As for America's incessant boasting about being the greatest nation of all, you do know how God responds to arrogance?

Believing in God? the letter of James 2:19 says that that is good, but even the demons believe in God, and tremble.

moral self restraint is actually what the Bible calls flthy rags, being all that human righteousness acan produce, filthy for it cleans up the outer man and leaves the inner heart of man full of dead men's bones Matthew 23:27 and a HOST of others

concerning the notion that America is a christian nation: there is no such thing if indeed Jesus spoke truly when he said, "strait is the gate narrow the way and FEW there are who find it" Matthew 7:14.

too few for there to be enough to make a nation, I submit

if you dispute this you will clearly not know the difference between religious rhetoric and spiritual reality

and if all a society had was religious rhetoric and legalism (forced attempts out of fear or self rigjhteosuness to keep the Law of God (see Glatioans andRomans for why legalism is hersey) it never had God at all, and merely invoked his name in hypocrisy

you dont know the relationship of the nations to God. Psalm 2 makes it clear. they ALL devise a vain thing and are ALL opposed to God.

you are not special.

What you, Karen, refer to as a 'Bioweapon' has accrued many names and classifications/catagories. The DOD referral is 'Countermeasure' and the FDA, HHS, CDC, NIAID among other of the International and Nation Alphabet CORRUPT define it a 'Vaccine' to sound innocuous for easier public acceptance and compliance in accepting injections.

In listening to the Dr. Jane Ruby show interviewing W.H.O. Whistleblower, Dr. Astrid Stuckelberger; this CHIMERIC PRODUCING/DNA INFECTING SERUM was defined 'Ai Weapon' or 'Nanoweapon' as it has many components involved with literally DESTROYING THE DNA OF ALL LIFE ON EARTH.

EVEN with a GRAIN of faith in God blessing me...THIS WHOLE EVIL SITUATION STILL BLOWS MY MIND!!! Even though once working in Govt. Facilities in Professional Mental Health with those the common world defines 'Criminally Insane'; THIS WHOLE EVIL SITUATION BLOWS MY MIND. EVIL IS DIFFICULT TO COMPREHEND AND IT IS DIFFICULT TO ACCEPT IT TO REALLY EXIST...AND THEN, something like the RAGE FROM EVIL WHEN LOSING A PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION IS ALLOWED TO EXPOSE THOSE BELONGING TO IT IN THIS WORLD and it displays itself as truly Existentially THREATENING...STILL BLOWS MY MIND.

I don't subscribe to organized religion but wholeheartedly agree that understanding that each and every one of us is an aspect of divine creation--energy with consciousness--imbued with the full freedom and love of our creator, is what takes away the fear, heals division, and empowers us to use the free will we were lovingly bestowed. We are free because our creator wanted that for all of us.

words matter: calling our rights "constitutional" implies they are granted by the constitution. They are granted at our birth from our Creator and protected by our constitution.

It is really not about freedoms or rights. The crux of the matter is Who has the authority to define what punishment for a crime is right. Only the whole Bible can provide answers as to what standard Jesus Christ will use when He judges the living and the dead. This is Christianity 101, but seldom applied to law and economics.

Oh, come on. The US has been great in lots of ways but the idea that it towers over all other cultures and ways of life is arrogant nationalism, just like the arrogant nationalism of China, Russia, you name it. "Exceptionalism" is the oldest trick in the book for nation-states to ride herd over their people with a feverish patriotism used to fight other nation-states for profit by the military industrial complex the same in every country. You think America owns God or the idea of human rights and dignity? Give me a break. What about the centuries of slavery in this country? And before that the millions of First Nation people slain in cold blood? The fight we're in the middle of has nothing to do with "God" vs. atheism. It has to do with out of control corporate capitalist sociopaths driven mad by greed and power and robbing people of their life force. With the ones at the very top hatching even worse schemes to turn us all into human-flavored robots.

While I think there are some things on which we can agree, on this point absolutely no. Your argument is like the Divine Right of Kings that the ruling royalty in years gone by used to justify their power and even their abuse. We derive our rights from the collective wisdom of the people who hold a set of ethics that is shared. Unfortunately people are too often lead by their own prejudices and beliefs and ignore how they only hold such a lofty ideal for themselves along and not others. In this country, which was settled by diverse believing individuals of varying ethnicities and racial composition, we have a Constitutional right that is shared by all people for civil liberties and freedom to speak, move, believe and enjoy our bodily agency so long as we do not harm others. Religion/god has nothing to do with this other than some people use that format for learning how to be decent human beings.

Jeff Dornik, you are not in the spiritual battle. You abandoned God and His Torah.

The religion called Christianity is a fake, theological religion that convinces people she is following Jesus Christ, when in fact she is following the opposite of Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ kept all His Father YHVH's Torah as our example of how to live and walk in the Holy Spirit.

Christianity came along and her bible translators falsified various words and meanings in the bible and her theologians then wrote false theologies to enslave the people into believing against Jesus Christ and The Way of salvation he taught, i.e. keeping his Father's Commandments.

Christianity has always been a fraud religion, also known as the Harlot of Revelation, see Revelation chapters 17 & 18. People who enter Christianity are persuaded to become anti-Christs, not keeping the Sabbath Holy, turning their backs on YHVH God's Feasts, and declaring His Torah is not The Gospel when in fact Hebrews 4:2 declares the Torah is the Gospel, preached by Moses.

2 Chronicles 7:14 says if the people will repent of their Torah breaking YHVH God will heal their land, IF AND ONLY IF THEY KEEP HIS TORAH.

People don't read but that single verse, but the wise keep reading the rest of the chapter...

You Jeff, will watch and stand by doing nothing profitable as America perishes, led by Christanity, the Harlot of Revelation she is.

Revelation 18:4-5 says to come out of the Harlot called Christianity (also Judaism and Islam) and keep the written Torah God's Son kept. Unless you are like Jesus Christ, keeping all Torah, you Jeff will perish into the Lake of Fire.

Here are proofs the bible translators falsified many words and falsified meanings/doctrines to deceive people into false practices:

Galatians 2:21 is about man's law, not God's Torah, as the proofs in the original Greek show you.

You have been deceived by theologian, bible translators, and pastors and don't know it because you do not study but trust in men's doctrines. This is WHY America has gone downhill because none of the churches in America keep or preach the true Gospel of Jesus Christ:

All the Christianity world, for 1700+ years have been seduced into living against the true Gospel of God:

1 Peter 4:17

For the time has come for judgment to begin at the house of God; and if it begins with us first, WHAT WILL BE THE END OF THOSE WHO DO NOT OBEY THE GOSPEL OF GOD?

If you want help or to discuss, you know where to find me...

I really don't agree with this at all. I don't believe the same things and no constitution should speak for everyone and can't. Because we are all different. I thought Karen was going to say that freespeech is what made America great. She has her view which is wonderful and which she is fully entitled to but I uphold freespeech about everything, even air just about.
