The Battle Over Alex Jones's Social Media... Is Your Free Speech Next?
With the 2024 election looming, silencing influential conservative voices like Alex Jones could significantly impact public discourse.
The ongoing legal battles facing Alex Jones and InfoWars are not just about financial reparations or justice for the Sandy Hook families—they are a direct attack on free speech and a blatant form of election meddling. The latest move by the plaintiffs to seize Jones's social media accounts is a troubling escalation that threatens the very foundation of our democratic process.
Alex Jones has warned of a new frontier in the war on free speech: the seizure of social media accounts. The families of the Sandy Hook massacre victims, through a bankruptcy lawsuit, are now attempting to take control of Jones’s X (formerly Twitter) account. This isn’t just about settling scores or collecting damages—this is about silencing a prominent conservative voice in the run-up to a crucial election.
The lawsuit’s demands extend beyond Jones’s personal account. They aim to take control of all associated accounts, effectively cutting off Jones’s ability to communicate with his 2.3 million followers. This is not just an attack on Jones; it’s a direct assault on the principle of free speech. If this precedent is set, any political figure or media personality could find themselves similarly targeted.
Jones believes the Democratic Party is using the Sandy Hook lawsuit as a cover to silence him. He argues that the move is not just about him but about setting a precedent to silence any dissenting voices, especially those with large followings and significant influence. The real target, according to Jones, is Elon Musk and the platform he owns, X. By attacking Jones, they aim to send a message to Musk and other free speech advocates: comply, or face destruction.

The timing of this legal maneuver cannot be ignored. With the 2024 election looming, silencing influential conservative voices like Alex Jones could significantly impact public discourse. Jones suggests that the Democrats are in "full panic mode" and are using every tool at their disposal to ensure they control the narrative leading up to the election.
If the plaintiffs succeed in taking over Jones's social media accounts, it could open the floodgates for similar actions against other conservative figures. This is more than just a legal battle; it’s a fight for the soul of our democracy. Allowing this to happen would be akin to cutting out the vocal cords of any dissenter, leaving only one-sided propaganda to dominate the public sphere.

"...R.J. Rushdoony pointed out the sophistry of governments based upon freedom:
'….[A] society which makes freedom its primary goal will lose it, because it has made, not responsibility, but freedom from responsibility, its purpose. When freedom is the basic emphasis, it is not responsible speech which is fostered but irresponsible speech. If freedom of press is absolutized, libel will be defended finally as a privilege of freedom, and if free speech is absolutized, slander finally becomes a right. Religious liberty becomes a triumph of irreligion. Tyranny and anarchy take over. Freedom of speech, press, and religion all give way to controls, totalitarian controls. The goal must be God’s law-order, in which alone is true liberty.'5
"True liberty is found only in Yahweh’s perfect law of liberty:
'But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.' (James 1:25)6
"James was not describing some New Covenant law that freed us to do whatever we wish. That kind of freedom is nothing more than baptized humanism, which eventually leads to anarchism, one of the quickest paths to legal slavery. Instead, James described the same perfect law of liberty – Yahweh’s commandments, statutes, and judgments – as did King David:
'So shall I keep thy law continually for ever and ever. And I will walk at liberty….' (Psalm 119:44-45)...."

Given that Alex Jones used his platform to spread filth and deliberate lies about numerous topics, including Sandy Hook, I have NO sympathy whatsoever. Moreover, the media in this country are heavily biased toward the Right. One should note in particular the role of Fox News in supporting the "Big Lie" -- a crime that Rupert Murdoch acknowledged.
